THE LAKE CHAPALA AREA

Ajijic is one of several villages located on the shores of Lake
Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico. The lake is approximately 50
miles long and as much as 12 miles wide.
The Lake Chapala area is rated the best year- round
climate in the world! Situated at an altitude of 5,000 feet (1500
meters), the average temperature is 70 degrees F (20c). As the locals
say: If you like today you will love tomorrow!
The rainy season starts in June and continues through
September. Ironically, normally it only rains in the middle of the
night. Leaving your days free, for Golf and other outdoor activities.
In a matter of days the hillsides have turned green and beautiful.
One would think they were on the island of Maui.
A large number of Americans, Canadians, and European
reside Lakeside. Many live here year round and many snowbirds
migrate from the cold and snow up north during the months
of December- April.
With more than 8,000 non Mexican residents living
in the area, there are many clubs and associations to keep you busy.
That is if you are not busy playing golf, tennis or horse back riding.
The restaurants Lakeside are superb. Everything
from Japanese, Sushi, Italian, American, Mexican, Tex-Mex, German,
and many, many, more- and that does not include Guadalajara!
Guadalajara, only 45 minutes away has some of the
finest cultural activities Mexico has to offer. Some of the finest
restaurants and shopping in North America.
